{"id":517863,"date":"2023-11-30T09:06:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T07:06:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=517863"},"modified":"2023-11-30T09:06:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T07:06:07","slug":"amazon-developed-ai-image-generator-for-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/517863-amazon-developed-ai-image-generator-for-businesses.html","title":{"rendered":"Amazon developed AI image generator for businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amazon.com Inc., playing catch-up in the hotly contested market for generative artificial intelligence, has developed a tool to help businesses create images.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Amazon Web Services, the company\u2019s cloud services arm, has been rolling out a range of products \u2014 from a chatbot to AI chips \u2014 \u00a0at its annual re:Invent conference in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>AWS executive Swami Sivasubramanian demonstrated the Titan Image Generator on Wednesday with various images of iguanas that the technology had generated.<\/p>\n<p>He said the tool is now available in preview.<\/p>\n<p>AWS is the largest provider of rented computing power and data storage.<\/p>\n<p>But it has trailed Microsoft Corp.-backed OpenAI and Alphabet Inc.\u2019s Google in bringing to market products based on its own large language models, the expensive software systems behind ChatGPT and its ilk.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon\u2019s Titan line has added new models since a bare-bones launch\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-05-24\/amazon-s-answer-to-chatgpt-seen-as-incomplete-vaporware\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in April<\/a><\/strong>, including some designed to generate text more cheaply than OpenAI\u2019s latest versions.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon is also hedging its bets, trying to entice other large model makers to offer their software to AWS customers. Earlier this year, Amazon\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-09-25\/amazon-to-invest-as-much-as-4-billion-in-ai-startup-anthropic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">agreed<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to invest as much as $4 billion in AI startup Anthropic.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the deal, AWS clients have access to Anthropic\u2019s Claude models, including one released last week,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Sivasubramanian said.
