The company also released the Arc mouse, a fold-up mouse designed for travellers.

It is the BlueTrack mouse, however, that Microsoft says will change the way computer users view the mouse (BlueTrack mouse image here).

The Blue Track mouse uses an "incoherent" wide angle light tracking device that works on almost all surfaces – apart from glass and mirror – and is less sensitive to dirt and dust. A laser mouse uses "coherent" light which is easily interrupted by dirt. The result, says Microsoft, is a pointing device more accurate and reliable than laser-based devices,.

BlueTrack technology will debut in two new top-of-the-line mice, the Microsoft Explorer Mouse and Microsoft Explorer Mini Mouse. The Explorer uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection and has a USB transceiver that snaps into the base of the mouse for storage.

Arc

The other eye-catching piece of hardware released by Microsoft is the uniquely-shaped Arc mouse which resembles a clamshell mobile phone. The Arc mouse can be folded in half when being transported. When in use the Arc mouse folds out to fit the users hand. Though peculiar looking the Arc is comfortable in the hand.

The Arc mouse also uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection and the USB transceiver snaps into the base of the Arc before being folded shut (Microsoft Arc Mouse image here).

Microsoft Bluetrack mouse discussion

[15

post-5203","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hardware
