MTN has confirmed that it will continue offering its SuperFlex packages beyond 29 February 2024.<\/p>\n

South Africa\u2019s second-largest mobile network operator first announced MTN SuperFlex in September<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

MTN SuperFlex is an online, SIM-only, month-to-month tariff plan that offers unlimited voice and SMS messages with a large data bundle.<\/p>\n

Packages start at 10GB for R299 per month.<\/p>\n

However, the terms and conditions state that SuperFlex is a promotion that will only be available until 29 February 2024.<\/p>\n

It is not unusual for operators to launch new products like this as a promotion.<\/p>\n

Operators are required to file any adjustments to their permanent tariffs with the industry regulator, Icasa.<\/p>\n

Launching a new service as a promotion allows operators to quickly cancel or amend it if it doesn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n

Or, in the case of uncapped plans like SuperFlex, pull it off the market if there is a large amount of abuse that MTN\u2019s systems fail to detect and block.<\/p>\n

For example, MTN makes clear that SuperFlex is intended for individual consumers. It is not designed for a business to run their office line on or send out masses of SMS notifications.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, the risks that could have led to SuperFlex being scrapped do not appear to have materialised.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to the positive response from the market, MTN will be extending the offer beyond February 2024,\u201d MTN SA chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer Jacqui O\u2019Sullivan told MyBroadband.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe extension will include a lot more enhancements, improvements, new and exciting features. Customers should expect more details on this offer in the next coming weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

MTN already added the ability to use an existing number<\/strong><\/a> with SuperFlex a month after launching the product.<\/p>\n
