South African gamers can choose from several gaming monitors with refresh rates of 144Hz or higher, with prices starting from R3,500.<\/p>\n

MyBroadband looked for the most affordable 144Hz or higher gaming monitors available from prominent retailers in the country, including Evetech, Progenix, Rebel Tech, and Takealot.<\/p>\n

We found ten options with refresh rates ranging from 144Hz to 180Hz for under R4,900, with several models available for less than R3,800.<\/p>\n

Samsung’s Odyssey G3 24-inch gaming monitor is the most affordable at R3,499 from Takealot. It has a 165Hz refresh rate and supports AMD FreeSync Premium.<\/p>\n

Syncing technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync synchronise the display’s refresh rate with the framerate of compatible graphics cards to reduce or eliminate visual artefacts, including input latency, stuttering, and screen tearing.<\/p>\n

For R100 more, gamers can buy LG’s UltraGear 24-inch gaming monitor from Evetech. The 1080p monitor features a 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium.<\/p>\n

Of the ten monitors listed, only AOC’s 24-inch gaming monitor and Dell’s G2722HS model offer Nvidia G-Sync.<\/p>\n

The former features a 165Hz refresh rate and costs R3,637.99 at Rebel Tech. The Dell monitor is larger at 27 inches and is available for R4,499 from Takealot.<\/p>\n

Only two monitors in the list have refresh rates higher than 165Hz \u2014 AOC’s 24G4 24-inch gaming monitor and MSI’s G244F 24-inch eSports Gaming model.<\/p>\n

The AOC monitor has a 180Hz refresh rate, supports AMD FreeSync Premium, and costs R4,599 at Evetech, while MSI’s monitor has a 170Hz refresh rate and costs R4,691 at Progenix. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium.<\/p>\n

The most expensive option listed is Philips’ 272E1GAJ 27-inch gaming monitor at R4,849 at Evetech. It offers a 144Hz refresh rate.<\/p>\n
