<\/strong>Samsung\u2019s<\/a> new CEO, Kwon Oh-hyun has told reporters that the company will focus more on software in the coming months, hinting that its days as an Android<\/a> vendor may be numbered.<\/p>\n

In a speech on 18 June, the CEO noted that Samsung will make software and UI design a key focus moving forward.<\/p>\n

\u201dA particular focus must be given to serving new customer experience and value by strengthening soft capabilities in software, user experience, design and solutions,\u201d Kwon said.<\/p>\n

Samsung Mobile\u2019s vice president and general manager of enterprise sales, Tim Wagner also spoke on 18 June, noting that the Galaxy S III \u201csystematically defragments Android\u201d.<\/p>\n

This could also support the idea that Samsung is looking at moving away from being \u201can Android vendor\u201d in favour of be \u201ca smartphone vendor\u201d.<\/p>\n

Samsung is reportedly worried after Google<\/a> acquired hardware manufacturer Motorola Mobility<\/a> for $12.5 billion earlier this year, meaning the company providing Samsung with its mobile operating system is now also one of its biggest competitors.<\/p>\n
