The number of households on the DStv<\/a> Compact bouquet has overtaken DStv Premium subscriptions according to the latest Television Audience Measurement Survey (TAMS) data released by the SA Advertising Research Foundation (SAARF)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Managing director of Nielsen Media in South Africa, Craig Johnson, recently presented the January to June 2012 TAMS update which showed that 1.85 million households subscribe to DStv Compact while 1.75 million have the Premium bouquet.<\/p>\n

According to SAARF, this translates to 4.33 million adult viewers on the DStv Premium package, while over 5 million adults over the age of 15 watch TV on the Compact package.<\/p>\n

DStv Compact offers a subset of the channels available on DStv Premium at a reduced monthly fee.<\/p>\n

The SAARF also reported that 205,797 households have TopTV<\/a>, with 609,445 viewers on the platform.<\/p>\n
