<\/strong>Android<\/a> 4.1 Jelly Bean is coming \u201csoon\u201d, according to the Google<\/a> Play Store site.<\/p>\n

When users buy the Galaxy Nexus from the website, the device is described as \u201cthe latest smartphone from Google, soon the first phone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.\u201d<\/p>\n

An XDA forum member spotted the descriptions, which adds fuel to speculation that the next version of the Android mobile operating system will be debuted at the Google I\/O conference in San Francisco next week.<\/p>\n

The new version of Android will ship despite low uptake on the current latest version, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.<\/p>\n

According to Data from the Google app store, only 7 percent of Android handsets run version 4.0. Around 65 percent of devices are still running version 2.3 Gingerbread, which was released in 2010 and continues to ship on some handsets that were launched in early 2012.<\/p>\n

The I\/O conference is also expected to host the unveiling of Google\u2019s rumoured Nexus tablet, a 7-inch offering that will compete with tablets such as the Kindle Fire.<\/p>\n
