{"id":534023,"date":"2024-04-28T13:33:41","date_gmt":"2024-04-28T11:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=534023"},"modified":"2024-04-28T13:34:37","modified_gmt":"2024-04-28T11:34:37","slug":"windows-11-rolls-out-ads-in-the-start-menu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/534023-windows-11-rolls-out-ads-in-the-start-menu.html","title":{"rendered":"Windows 11 rolls out ads in the Start menu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has rolled out an update, KB5036980, for Windows 11 to enable ads in the Start menu.<\/p>\n<p>This feature was first <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/532745-microsoft-tests-ads-in-windows-start-menu.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a><\/strong> as a Windows Insider beta update 13 days ago on the 12th of April.<\/p>\n<p>The ads will take the form of recommended apps from the Microsoft Store, which Windows says will improve the convenience of the Start menu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[W]e are now trying out recommendations to help you discover great apps from the Microsoft Store under Recommended on the Start menu,\u201d Microsoft said in the Windows Insider announcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese apps come from a small set of curated developers.
