{"id":53841,"date":"2012-06-29T09:15:23","date_gmt":"2012-06-29T07:15:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=53841"},"modified":"2012-06-29T09:17:24","modified_gmt":"2012-06-29T07:17:24","slug":"microsoft-windows-8-upgrade-plan-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/53841-microsoft-windows-8-upgrade-plan-revealed.html","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Windows 8 upgrade plan revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Microsoft\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/211580-Microsoft\">Microsoft<\/a> has revealed to some partners details surrounding upgrade paths for users moving from <a title=\"Windows\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/360852-Windows\">Windows<\/a> XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report by Cnet, the following guidance was released by Microsoft:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Users will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, and Windows 7 Home Premium while maintaining their existing Windows settings, personal files, and applications.<\/li>\n<li>Users will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro from Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Ultimate while maintaining their existing Windows settings, personal files, and applications.<\/li>\n<li>Users will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Enterprise from Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise while maintaining their existing Windows settings, personal files, and applications.<\/li>\n<li>Users will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows Vista (without SP1 installed) but only personal files (meaning data only) will be maintained.
