The AppChat website has gone live, saying that the company\u2019s objective is to provide their pre-paid and post-paid customers with the highest quality lowest cost mobile voice minute in the country. \u201cAppChat is the mobile network South Africa deserves,\u201d the company states.<\/p>\n
\u201cAppChat subscribers will be able to call any number in South Africa and internationally (both fixed line and mobile),\u201d the new website states.<\/p>\n
News emerged in March 2012 that AppChat, a new mobile company founded and run by former ECN founder and CEO John Holdsworth, is planning to significantly reduce the price of mobile voice calls and drastically improve the quality of cellular calls in South Africa.<\/p>\n
The company will use mobile VoIP technology to provide its services, and industry speculation suggests that AppChat will partner with Cell C in a roaming agreement to provide its services.<\/p>\n
Holdsworth is currently embroiled in a legal battle with Reunert, which said that it seeks to enforce contractual restraint of trade and confidentiality undertakings given by Holdsworth following Reunert\u2019s acquisition of the ECN Telecommunications business in June last year.<\/p>\n
However, this will not stop Holdsworth. \u201cIt\u2019s about time that we saw some real change in the market and not just the usual smoke and mirrors special offers,\u201d Holdsworth said previously.<\/p>\n
