eMedia has announced the discontinuation of the Power-Up! Channel (channel 114) on the Openview platform, which takes effect on Monday, 8 July 2024.<\/p>\n

Launched during intense load-shedding, the Power-Up! Channel offered customers re-runs of their favourite shows that they may have otherwise missed due to the rotational power cuts.<\/p>\n

“With recent improvements in power stability, Openview announces discontinuing the Power-Up! Channel from Monday, 8 July 2024,” it said.<\/p>\n

eMedia says it launched the channel to help E-tv viewers stay entertained and keep up-to-date with their shows despite load-shedding.<\/p>\n

“With load-shedding no longer affecting our lives, viewers can continue to enjoy their favourite shows as they air, experiencing the excitement of live viewing with friends and family,” it said.<\/p>\n

eMedia managing director of channels, Marlon Davids, thanked viewers for their continued support.<\/p>\n

“Your engagement has been invaluable, and we are excited to bring you an even more thrilling prime-time experience,” said Davids.<\/p>\n

“Our commitment to providing nonstop entertainment has always been unwavering and will continue to be so.”<\/p>\n

Openview customers can now get the new OV512 decoder<\/a> to access the satellite TV service and on-demand content.<\/p>\n

Launched on Wednesday, 3 July 2024, Openview said the new decoder marked the “dawn of a new era in home entertainment for South Africa”.<\/p>\n

The Openview OV512 decoder, priced at R799, can be purchased from the Openview website or by calling its customer service centre.<\/p>\n

It features a built-in Wi-Fi receiver, which eMedia says will allow viewers to access additional “premium content”.<\/p>\n

Viewers can press the +MORE button on the remote to access on-demand HD-quality content.<\/p>\n

They can also pause, rewind, and fast-forward on-demand content.<\/p>\n

While it didn’t specify what movies or TV shows are available on-demand, one possibility is that it will incorporate its eVOD Premium streaming service, priced at R29.99 per month.<\/p>\n

Customers can access eVOD via a web browser or through a mobile app. It doesn’t offer support for Android TV, Apple, TV, Tizen, or other smart TV operating systems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
