During the quarter it increased from 5.45 million to 5.55 million.<\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">On an average, each Internet subscriber used 305 minutes per month and the average revenue per user (ARPU) per month for Internet service was Rs 220 during the quarter. Broadband subscribers had used a download speed of 256 kilobits per second or more.<\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">Subscribers used about 41.52 million minutes of Internet telephony during the quarter, the report said. <\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">The telephone subscriber base grew by 5.95 per cent during the period.<\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">The gross subscriber base of both fixed-line and mobile services was 98.41 million in March against 92.88 million in December. <\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">The overall telephone user base grew by 28.59 per cent during 2004-05. <\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">Subscribers of fixed-telephone service, including fixed-line and wireless in local loop-fixed, increased from 44.87 million to 46.19 million.<\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">The mobile subscriber base, including GSM and CDMA, grew from 48.01 million to 52.22 million during the quarter. <\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">The number of mobile users in the last financial year grew 55 per cent. <\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">The total subscriber ratio between private operators and state-owned telecom companies increased to 47:53 against 46:54 at the end of December. <\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">The number of PCOs in the country increased to 27,71,132, posting an 8.65 per cent growth. <\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\"><font size=\"2\">The ARPU for GSM service providers was Rs 398 for the quarter ended December, down 1.5 per cent from Rs 404 in the September quarter. <\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"story\" align=\"left\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Broadband subscribers in India grew by 290 per cent to 1.83 lakh from 0.47 lakh during the quarter ended March 31, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_sma_x_autopost_status":"idle","_sma_x_autopost_error":"","_sma_x_post_id":"","_sma_facebook_post_id":"","_sma_instagram_post_id":"","_sma_threads_post_id":"","_sma_x_attempts":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-546482","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-technology"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/546482"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/23"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=546482"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/546482\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=546482"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=546482"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=546482"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
