Consumers can now purchase i-Go on a monthly contract, says Antony Mckechnie, head of sales at WBS. Should they exceed the 500MB limit, they can top up pay-as-you-go style, at R139 for 500MB.<\/font><\/p>\n

The i-Go offering is the latest product to be launched in recent weeks targeted at users who need affordable Internet packages. At the end of July, Sentech announced the launch of MyWireless Flexi, a product targeting users who need highly affordable, easy to use Internet access.<\/font> <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

Baseline connection<\/b><\/font><\/a><\/b> <\/font><\/p>\n

When comparing by price only, the i-Go offering is similar to Sentech’s MyWirelessFlexi200, which is available on a 24-month contract at R299 per month. MyWirelessFlexi200 offers 200MB per month as part of the contract. The offering also includes a modem or MyWireless PCMCIA card. <\/font><\/p>\n

Both offerings also focus on the rate of consumption by users. They provide the user with a baseline connection, with the option to top up should the need arise. <\/font><\/p>\n

\u201cThe problem with most of the broadband offerings in the market place is that you don’t always use what you pay for,\u201d says Winston Smith, Sentech portfolio manage for wireless products. <\/font><\/p>\n

Competition is welcome<\/b><\/font><\/a><\/b> <\/font><\/p>\n

Mckechnie acknowledges that the pricing in the market is dropping, crediting competition in the market place as one of the reasons. He says that iBurst has acted as a catalyst in bringing in competitive broadband prices to SA. <\/font><\/p>\n

CUASA spokesman Ray Webber welcomes the launch of another cost\u2013effective product aimed at the average consumer and small business owner. He says it is the beginning of a trend. \u201cBroadband prices are going to continue to drop,\u201d he says. <\/font><\/p>\n

Wireless Business Solutions (WBS) provider of wireless broadband solution iBurst, recently announced i-Go, a service that offers Internet connectivity at R299 per month.
