Subscribers will need an ADSL modem, micro-filters and the required cabling to ensure successful installation. Access to the ADSL helpdesk is available free to customers that struggle installing the service.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">The Telkom website highlights that this is a cheaper and faster method of getting ADSL. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">\u201cSelf Install Option will be the option for customers requiring ADSL access and being confident enough to complete the installation of the modem without a Telkom technician&#8217;s assistance. The advantages include a cheaper and quicker installation (no waiting for a Telkom technician to confirm an appointment).\u201d<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">The customer will still have access to a technician if there are any problems, but will have to foot the bill of a call-out fee in this event.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Interested customers can phone 10219 to enquire about this product. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Software will be provided to the customer, but unfortunately we could not gain clarity on the delivery method for this software. Customers that sign a 24 month contract with Telkom will be provided with a free modem.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">The ADSL Service Verification website that forms part of this service can be found at <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telkom.co.za\/verifyadsl\"><font size=\"2\">http:\/\/www.telkom.co.za\/verifyadsl<\/font><\/a><font size=\"2\"> <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">The ADSL self install option will hopefully alleviate some of the congestion in the ADSL installation process.
