{"id":546787,"date":"2005-09-15T07:32:52","date_gmt":"2005-09-15T07:32:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/wordpress\/technology\/546787-telkom-and-uunet-address-recent-network-problems.html"},"modified":"2005-09-15T07:32:52","modified_gmt":"2005-09-15T07:32:52","slug":"telkom-and-uunet-address-recent-network-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/546787-telkom-and-uunet-address-recent-network-problems.html","title":{"rendered":"Telkom and UUNet address recent network problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"2\">\u201cContrary to speculative media reports, there are no peering, capacity or contractual issues between UUNET and SAIX,\u201d reads the joint media statement.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">UUNET decided to install new routing infrastructure on that network on the 12th of September to eliminate any problems from their side.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">This move unfortunately did not solve the problem and Telkom then upgraded their ATM infrastructure on the node.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">The network appeared to stabilize on Monday evening but both parties still noticed irregular traffic patterns and sporadic packet loss.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Both parties were forced to consider other avenues and worked overtime trying to figure out where the problem lay.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">On Monday night Telkom rerouted their peering infrastructure with UUNET onto a different ATM port.
