From the report it seems as if the people in rural areas are more tolerant towards Telkom and from their votes Telkom came in fifth. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Lulu Letlape, group executive for corporate communication at Telkom, reported to the Business Times that urbanites have a lot of brands to choose from and that Telkom had recently received \u201ca lot of negative media coverage which has affected the manner in which people view the company.\u201d<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Telkom has also invested heavily in community programmes which are focused on rural areas and according to Letlape Telkom tend \u201cto be seen as a member of the community.\u201d <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Letlape stated that there was room to improve their image in the cities and recently said that Telkom was \u2018in the process of communicating with customers, but was not willing to comment on their participation in public forums\u2019 (MyADSL, September 16, 2005 <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mybroadband.co.za\/nephp\/\/?m=show&#038;id=723\"><font size=\"2\">http:\/\/www.mybroadband.co.za\/nephp\/\/?m=show&amp;id=723<\/font><\/a><font size=\"2\">)<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">\u201cIf we mount a more aggressive brand-awareness campaign in urban areas, there is likely to be a significant improvement.\u201d <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">\u201cAt present clients see us through the media.
