{"id":55027,"date":"2012-07-17T14:18:59","date_gmt":"2012-07-17T12:18:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=55027"},"modified":"2012-07-17T14:20:30","modified_gmt":"2012-07-17T12:20:30","slug":"raspberry-pi-volume-restriction-lifted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gadgets\/55027-raspberry-pi-volume-restriction-lifted.html","title":{"rendered":"Raspberry Pi volume restriction lifted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The developers of the card-sized Raspberry Pi computer have lifted the purchase restrictions of their high-in-demand device.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As of this morning, you&#8217;ll be able to buy as many Raspberry Pis as you want\u201d, said Liz Upton on the official Raspberry Pi blog.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the company put a restriction to one unit per customer, but now allows for unlimited quantities to be ordered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have been extraordinary levels of demand for Raspberry Pi since its launch earlier this year, so we have no doubt that customers worldwide will welcome the volume availability of the boards,\u201d said Glenn Jarrett, global head of product marketing for RS Components.<\/p>\n<p>The company said that its manufacturing partners are currently producing 4,000 units a day.<\/p>\n<p>Essentially, the device is a miniature ARM-based PC which is easily connected to a TV or monitor to provide a traditional PC usage experience, with SD cards pre-loaded with the Linux-based operating system.<\/p>\n<p>The Pi is also capable of running games such as Quake III and can stream 1080p HD video;
