{"id":550766,"date":"2006-11-08T11:04:54","date_gmt":"2006-11-08T11:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/wordpress\/technology\/550766-icasa-to-look-at-wimax-spectrum-allocation.html"},"modified":"2006-11-08T11:04:54","modified_gmt":"2006-11-08T11:04:54","slug":"icasa-to-look-at-wimax-spectrum-allocation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/550766-icasa-to-look-at-wimax-spectrum-allocation.html","title":{"rendered":"ICASA to look at WiMax spectrum allocation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.icasa.org.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ICASA<\/a> issued a notice in the Government Gazette No. 29351 published on the 2nd of November asking for comments about the awarding of spectrum where there is insufficient spectrum to satisfy demand.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">According to ICASA the 3.5 GHz and 2.6 GHz spectrum bands are where demand exceeds the available spectrum. This is not particularly surprising as these are generally associated with WiMax roll-outs.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">Telkom, Neotel and Sentech have already been allocated 3.5 GHz spectrum, with Telkom and Neotel receiving 2 x 28 MHz each and Sentech receiving 2 x 14 MHz. A total of 60 MHz is now available for further assignment.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\">In the 2.6 GHz band Sentech has an assignment of 50 MHz and WBS\/iBurst has been allocated 14 MHz.
