{"id":55145,"date":"2012-07-25T14:07:00","date_gmt":"2012-07-25T12:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=55145"},"modified":"2012-07-25T14:08:10","modified_gmt":"2012-07-25T12:08:10","slug":"internet-usage-and-home-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/55145-internet-usage-and-home-language.html","title":{"rendered":"Internet usage and home language"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New research by Analytix BI, a South African market research company, shows that South Africa\u2019s English speaking population has by far the highest Internet penetration in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Analytix BI\u2019s latest report, titled South Africa Country Report: Telecommunications Market, landline use at home in freefall since 2005 and the cellphone\/mobile phone market plateauing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SA telecoms market will need to encourage significantly higher Internet and data usage to grow revenue,\u201d stated the report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Internet penetration and language<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>According to the report <\/strong>Internet usage in the past 7 days was significantly higher among the English speaking population at 45%, compared to the other home languages.
