Mac OS X Mountain Lion, the latest version of Apple\u2019s PC operating system, will be available for download from tomorrow (25 July 2012) , Apple CEO Tim Cook announced today.<\/p>\n
Cook made the announcement during of Apple\u2019s quarterly financial results call, where it was reported that iPhone sales were less than anticipated.<\/p>\n
Apple\u2019s revenue missed Wall Street expectations as a result, with good sales of its iPad tablet PC unable to offset the lower-than-expected iPhone sales.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled with record sales of 17 million iPads in the June quarter,\u201d said Tim Cook, Apple\u2019s CEO. \u201cWe\u2019ve also just updated the entire MacBook line, will release Mountain Lion tomorrow and will be launching iOS 6 this Fall. We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we\u2019ve got in the pipeline.\u201d<\/p>\n
Apple has said that Mountain Lion introduces over 200 features including a new messages app, notification center, system-wide sharing, Facebook integration and dictation.<\/p>\n
It will be available from the Mac App Store for $19.99 (US), and requires Lion or Snow Leopard (OS X v10.6.8 or later), 2GB of memory and 8GB of available space.<\/p>\n
