Linkin Park fans have been voicing their frustration with Computicket\u2019s system today (26 July 2012) when trying to buy tickets for the band\u2019s concert in Johannesburg. The complaints involved a frustrating queuing system, payment problems, and that ticket sales started early at some outlets.<\/p>\n

Computicket said previously that Linkin Park ticket sales would open at 09:00 on Thursday 26 July on the Computicket website, the call-centre, Computicket outlets at Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Shoprite, and House & Home stores. However, some people got early access to tickets.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to buy my fianc\u00e9 and myself Linkin Park tickets and I was the 15th person in the queue. At 9:05 I hear that the Golden Circle tickets have sold out and that the people in Durban and at Checkers were able to start getting tickets from 8:00 in the morning. This is absolutely unacceptable,\u201d said one Linkin Park fan on HelloPeter.<\/p>\n

There were also numerous complaints about Computicket’s system and queuing problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been waiting online since 09:00 to get tickets for Linkin Park but received an error message after I have checked out and wanted to pay for my tickets,\u201d complained another user.<\/p>\n

The virtual queuing system, which is provided to Computicket by Queue-it, was also used for the Lady Gaga ticket sales to avoid high server load which may cause the Computicket website to crash.<\/p>\n

However, some techies are critical towards the system arguing that the right infrastructure should be able to handle the load with ease.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo map real-world queues down to making people wait for the chance to buy their tickets online (because the system can\u2019t cope with the load) is, well, hilarious,\u201d said JP Viljoen, a network engineer in his personal blog post<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Viljoen said that many companies globally are handling far larger loads than Computicket by simply implementing the correct infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Computicket apologizes for early sales<\/strong><\/p>\n

Computicket apologized for making tickets available earlier than announced, saying that \u201cin preparation for the system to open at 09:00am for tickets we had a slight error. We do apologize for this\u201d.<\/p>\n

Computicket said that sales for \u201cCape Town and Johannesburg open through all channels tomorrow [27 July] at 09:00. Online Johannesburg ticket sales will happen through the Cape Town queue\u201d.<\/p>\n
