Google\u2019s new Nexus 7 tablet PC was announced towards the end of June and started shipping in July 2012, but it is still unclear whether the device will be coming to South Africa.<\/p>\n

The Nexus 7, which is built by Taiwanese manufacturer Asus in conjunction with Google, has received high praise from well known sites such as Anandtech<\/a>, Ars Technica<\/a>, and\u00a0The Verge<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It boasts a 7-inch WXGA (1280×800) display that makes use of in-plane switching technology, 8GB or 16GB storage, 1GB RAM, and runs the latest version of Google’s Android operating system (4.1 “Jelly Bean”) on a 1.2GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor.<\/p>\n

8ta, Cell C, MTN, and Vodacom were asked whether they would be getting the device, but only MTN and Vodacom responded by the time of publication.<\/p>\n

A Vodacom spokesperson said that it is too early to confirm any details at this stage, while MTN directed our queries to Google South Africa.<\/p>\n

Google said that just like all its products and services, they would love to bring the Nexus 7 to South Africa as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

The search giant added that there is nothing else to announce or share at the moment.<\/p>\n
