{"id":569665,"date":"2024-11-12T16:09:15","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T14:09:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=569665"},"modified":"2024-11-12T16:09:21","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T14:09:21","slug":"dstv-internet-a-hit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadband\/569665-dstv-internet-a-hit.html","title":{"rendered":"DStv Internet a hit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>MultiChoice has reported that its DStv Internet product offering has seen an 85% year-on-year (YoY) revenue growth, the highest of all the media giant&#8217;s new business operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was announced in the group&#8217;s interim results for the first half of the financial year ending 30 September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The service offers LTE Internet packages for DStv and non-DStv customers on 24-month contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These include 25GB, 55GB, and 110GB bundles that include nighttime data and can be bundled with a DStv subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DStv Internet <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/562782-dstv-internet-a-winner.html\">first rolled out<\/a> in September 2021, offering several fixed-LTE plans with large amounts of data that could be bundled with streaming-only DStv bouquets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said the move was to diversify its offering as part of MultiChoice&#8217;s ongoing evolution from a traditional video entertainment business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MultiChoice reported that its DStv Internet subscriber base had doubled year over year and that its revenues had increased 71%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This adds to the continued growth of the offering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The service&#8217;s active subscriber base grew by more than 400% in its first six months. However, this type of jump should be expected in a product&#8217;s early launch period, where its increases are coming off a low base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By March 2023, active users had increased by another 447%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A year later, the number of DStv Internet customers grew by a more modest but substantial 90%.
