Following the launch of its flat-rate Xtreme Data service, Nashua Mobile has announced today (13 August 2012) its plans to extend access to the service to more Nokia devices.<\/p>\n

The cellular service provider also announced that it will launch a premium version of the service for smartphone users with higher-end data needs.<\/p>\n

Launched in March 2012 as an alternative to the BlackBerry Internet Service, Xtreme Data from Nashua Mobile is a fixed-cost data service priced at R59 per month. The flat-rate service, which is currently available for a range of Nokia devices, offers customers data for e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, browsing and more.<\/p>\n

Nashua Mobile said that it will now cater for the higher-end smartphones and data users with the launch of Xtreme Data Premium.<\/p>\n

With this, Nashua Mobile will extend the service to include higher-end Nokia devices, such as Nokia\u2019s Lumia family of smartphones: the Nokia Lumia 900, 800, 710 and 610.<\/p>\n

At R139 per month, this Premium Xtreme Data service will cater for the more demanding user, with up to 400MB of high-speed data before its Average Use Policy (AUP) kicks in and the data service is throttled or shaped.<\/p>\n

YouTube is not blocked on the Xtreme Data Premium service.<\/p>\n

The normal Xtreme Data service lets users consume 100MB of data before the AUP takes effect, and YouTube is blocked.<\/p>\n

Shaping or throttling means that your download speed is decreased once you have used a certain amount of data, Nashua Mobile explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn most cases, you will only notice the slower download speed when you are streaming data or downloading apps or games,\u201d the company said. \u201cFor everyday services like WhatsApp, Email, Facebook and Browsing, you will still enjoy a fantastic user experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
