Customers reported seeing error messages and experiencing limited functionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outage tracking website <a href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.co.za\/status\/standard-bank\/?_gl=1*a9s2ay*_up*MQ..*_ga*OTQ5NjM0OTA4LjE3MzMxMTkxNTY.*_ga_0PZM58H213*MTczMzExOTE1Ni4xLjAuMTczMzExOTE1Ni4wLjAuMA..\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/downdetector.co.za\/status\/standard-bank\/?_gl=1*a9s2ay*_up*MQ..*_ga*OTQ5NjM0OTA4LjE3MzMxMTkxNTY.*_ga_0PZM58H213*MTczMzExOTE1Ni4xLjAuMTczMzExOTE1Ni4wLjAuMA..\">Downdetector<\/a> showed a sizeable spike in complaints that began at around 07:30 on Monday, 2 December 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Continue banking with limited functionality? Our services are currently limited, and only some app features are available,&#8221; the banking app error message read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also gave users the option to continue, sign out, or learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some users reported that signing out and back into the banking app cleared this message. However, even after signing in with full functionality, some of their balances showed as zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While some customers reported standard functionality, others have said certain balances weren&#8217;t showing correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some users were presented with the following message when attempting to access the Internet banking platform: &#8220;Service Error: This service is currently unavailable. Please try again later, while we investigate.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standard Bank told MyBroadband that its technicians were working to fix the issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Standard Bank technical teams are currently working to resolve the issue. The bank apologises for the inconvenience that this has caused,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several social media users voiced their frustration online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;App is not working @StandardBankZA it doesn&#8217;t show accounts and has errors in app,&#8221; one user <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DjWiggaSA\/status\/1863465818605883436\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DjWiggaSA\/status\/1863465818605883436\">posted<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Please check with your teams because there is something wrong with the app. It last updated yesterday and one can&#8217;t transaction,&#8221; another <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/avuh__mbele\/status\/1863461449999290402\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/avuh__mbele\/status\/1863461449999290402\">posted<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standard Bank has responded to some of the posts on social media, requesting that the users provide them with further details via direct message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There haven&#8217;t been any updates regarding the app having issues. Please DM us with more details about what you are experiencing so that we can assist,&#8221; it <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StandardBankZA\/status\/1863463625563787544\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StandardBankZA\/status\/1863463625563787544\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standard Bank told MyBroadband that the issues were resolved by around 10:15 on Monday, 2 December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Standard Bank can confirm that the disruptions that impacted services on its Mobile Banking App, Cellphone Banking and Internet Banking has been resolved,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The Bank apologises for the inconvenience that this has caused.
