Cell C has disclosed that it was the victim of a cyberattack that exposed the data of a limited number of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mobile network operator did not reveal further details about the breach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have detected a cybersecurity incident impacting parts of our IT environment,” Cell C said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Upon discovery, we took immediate action to contain the issue and engaged cybersecurity experts to assist with our investigation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cell C said that its top priority was to protect the integrity of its systems and the confidentiality of customer data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“While we continue to assess the full scope of the incident, initial findings from our ongoing investigation suggest that data related to a limited number of individuals may have been accessed by an unauthorised party,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have notified the relevant authorities, and we will keep stakeholders informed as we work to resolve the situation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cell C said that cybercrime is increasingly prevalent locally and globally, adding that was continuously investing in cybersecurity measures to mitigate risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We would like to encourage our customers to stay vigilant and take steps to protect their personal information,” the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
