As worldwide demand for tablet PCs increases, cheaper options have begun to emerge.<\/p>\n

DataWind, Coby, Velocity, Simmtronics, and CherryMobile are all offering tablets at budget prices.<\/p>\n

While many of the tablets don\u2019t feature the high-end specs you would find on high-end devices like the iPad or Google Nexus 7, the following devices win the price game.<\/p>\n

Aakash – US$37 (R302.69)<\/h3>\n

The Aakash is definitely one of the cheapest tablet PCs in the world.<\/p>\n

Developed by DataWind, the 7-inch tablet features Android 2.2 Froyo, an\u00a0ARM11 366MHz processor, 2GB of internal flash memory, and up 32GB microSD.<\/p>\n

A newer 2012 version has been released that costs $63.20 (R516.82), which contains a faster chip – a Cortex A8 800Mhz processor.<\/p>\n

Coby Kyros MID7015 – US$64.97 (R531.50)<\/h3>\n

The Coby Kyros has a 7-inch 800 x 480 touch-screen, 0.72GHz\u00a0ARM processor, Android 2.1 operating system, and 4GB of storage.<\/p>\n

The US company\u2019s budget-tablet retails for US$64.97 (R531.50).<\/p>\n

Velocity Micro Cruz T301 – US$77.99 (R638)<\/h3>\n

The Velocity Micro Cruz Tablet features a 7-inch 800 x 600 touch-screen, Android 2.0, a 528MHz Ingenic processor, 256 MB RAM, and 2 GB internal storage.<\/p>\n

All for the princely sum of US$77.99 (R638).<\/p>\n

Velocity Micro Cruz T301<\/p><\/div>\n

Simmtronics XPad – US$81 (R662.95)<\/h3>\n

In July, Indian company Simmtronics announced that its XPad tablet was launching in Dubai, with plans to get them across the globe.<\/p>\n

The 7-inch tablet includes a Cortex A8 processor clocked at 1Ghz, 4GB storage, multi-touch display, Wi-Fi, and it runs on Android 4.0.<\/p>\n

CherryPad – US$69.70 SRP (R767.60)<\/h3>\n

The CherryPad boasts a 7-inch\u00a0800 x 480 display, Android 2.2, 256 MB RAM, 2GB flash storage, powered by an 800MHz ARM11 processor.<\/p>\n

The tablet can play and record 1080p video, and also features an SD card slot and USB 2.0 port.<\/p>\n
