{"id":59581,"date":"2012-09-13T23:01:10","date_gmt":"2012-09-13T21:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=59581"},"modified":"2012-09-14T08:07:00","modified_gmt":"2012-09-14T06:07:00","slug":"telkom-40mbps-dsl-network-may-get-vectoring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadband\/59581-telkom-40mbps-dsl-network-may-get-vectoring.html","title":{"rendered":"Telkom 40Mbps DSL network may get vectoring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Telkom\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227037-Telkom\">Telkom<\/a> said that its network supports vectoring, but that this technology is currently not required for the data speeds offered in its high speed broadband pilot \u2013 hence up to 40Mbps.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"VDSL\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/289117-VDSL\">VDSL<\/a> vectoring is a technique for cancelling the electrical interference between adjacent VDSL circuits in the cable, thereby achieving a VDSL performance for individual circuits that is close to that of a single user in the cable.<\/p>\n<p>Vectoring makes it possible to increase DSL speeds on existing copper broadband lines to up to 100Mbps.<\/p>\n<p>Telkom said that although VDSL vectoring is supported by Telkom\u2019s network, this technology is not required for the data speeds offered in the <a title=\"FTTx\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/235265-FTTX\">FTTx<\/a> pilot, i.e. up to 40Mbps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe benefits of VDSL vectoring technology only become significant for data speeds above 40Mbps.
