{"id":59663,"date":"2012-09-12T10:19:49","date_gmt":"2012-09-12T08:19:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=59663"},"modified":"2012-09-12T13:56:01","modified_gmt":"2012-09-12T11:56:01","slug":"seacom-downtime-explained-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/59663-seacom-downtime-explained-2.html","title":{"rendered":"SEACOM downtime explained"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Numerous South African <a title=\"ADSL\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/224881-ADSL\">ADSL<\/a> subscribers were left with slow international connectivity last night, brought about by a failure on the <a title=\"SEACOM\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227005-SEACOM\">SEACOM<\/a> cable system.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"MWEB\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226947-MWeb\">MWEB<\/a> informed their subscribers that both their SEACOM links were offline and that they were on failover to <a title=\"WACS\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/355686-WACS-(West-Africa-Cable-System)\">WACS<\/a>. &#8220;We have enough capacity on WACS to keep you up and running, but obviously the p2p guys will feel the pinch a bit in the interim,\u201d MWEB said via its social media channels.<\/p>\n<p>SEACOM explained that some of their customers experienced a service-affecting outage beginning on the evening of Tuesday, 11th September, due to a power failure in London. This power failure affected partner backhaul equipment at one of the SEACOM London data centres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSEACOM reacted immediately to work with our partners in London to resolve the issue.
