{"id":5974,"date":"2008-11-13T13:54:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-13T11:54:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2013-04-18T12:06:38","modified_gmt":"2013-04-18T10:06:38","slug":"boot-windows-in-four-seconds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/5974-boot-windows-in-four-seconds.html","title":{"rendered":"Boot Windows in four seconds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Always a little ahead of the mainstream, Taiwanese motherboard maker Asustek has a new trick up its sleeve: A system that can boot Microsoft&#8217;s Windows operating system in just a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p>CustomPC reports that Asustek, the same company behind the Asus EEE PC, says that its budget motherboard wing, ASRock, has a new product called Instant Boot.<\/p>\n<p>Instant Boot uses the built-in S3 and S4 features of the ACPI power interface included in computers to boot an operating system in three to four seconds, even after a full shut down. ACPI is usually used to enable the sleep, standby and hibernation modes on computers.<\/p>\n<p>The Instant Boot system is still in early development but can already be enabled on five of ASRock&#8217;s current motherboards.
