The new Vodacom nano SIM can be used by contract, top-up, and pre-paid subscribers.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-inc\">Apple<\/a> unveiled its new iPhone 5 last week (12 September 2012), the first iPhone which uses the new, smaller nano SIM.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nano SIM card operates in exactly the same manner as a normal SIM card with the only exception being it is smaller in physical size,\u201d Vodacom said in its correspondence.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom highlighted that the new Nano SIM is designed to function only with devices that support the Nano SIM form factor, and warned that any attempt to use this SIM in a device not designed to support the Nano SIM may damage both the SIM and the device.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom informed resellers that the recommended selling price to South African consumers is R105.00.<\/p>\n<p>There is no official launch date for the iPhone 5 in South Africa yet, but according to unconfirmed information from a well placed source the latest Apple smartphone may be launch locally as soon as October 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The iPhone 5 will start shipping on 21 September 2012 in the first nine countries, and will roll out to 22 more countries on September 28.
