Using these new features, Google users can customise their search results by re-ranking, deleting, adding or commenting on them. Users can also see how other other searchers have customised any given result.

Users will see the the changes they have made whenever they do the same search while signed in to their Google account, or until they decide to undo them. The changes they make will only affect their search results, and changes will be included on a public comments page where they can also view how the community has edited or commented on a set of results.

Among the new features on Google are the ability to move certain search results up the ranking, delete results that users don’t feel are useful or even to comment on results.

The new Google features also allow users to add their own result to the search rankings. So, for example, if they feel they know of a better page than those shown they can add it to the results.

While customised search results will only affect the results displayed to users that set them, comments left on results are publicly viewable so other searchers can benefit from them.

"We’ve always said that the best search engine is the one that understands what the individual user wants," said Juergen Galler, director of product management at Google. "SearchWiki really puts that in action: this is an even deeper level of customisation than we’ve offered before, because people know best what search results they’re looking for."

Google results discussion

[18

post-6095","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-internet
