Consumers could go and buy their e-toll discs, as the transport department was busy concluding talks on the matter, Minister Ben Martins has said, Beeld reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch of National Transport Month in Soweto on Monday, Martins said more precise plans around the future of e-tolling would be made public at a media briefing on Friday.<\/p>\n

He declined to answer further questions on the issue, or be drawn on when the government planned to start with e-tolling.<\/p>\n

On September 20 the Constitutional Court set aside the interim interdict halting e-tolling of Gauteng’s major roads, giving the SA National Roads Agency Ltd the right to start the process.<\/p>\n

Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance<\/a> spokesman Wayne Duvenhage<\/a> said on Monday the review hearing of the e-tolling system would still take place in November. He urged motorists to wait for more clarity on the issue before purchasing e-tolling discs.<\/p>\n
