{"id":613388,"date":"2025-10-07T18:48:55","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T16:48:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=613388"},"modified":"2025-10-07T19:05:44","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T17:05:44","slug":"steam-is-offline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gaming\/613388-steam-is-offline.html","title":{"rendered":"Steam hit by outage"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PC game marketplace and launcher Steam experienced an outage on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, with users around the world reporting that they could not log in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attempting to access the Steam storefront through the website, desktop utility, and mobile apps resulted in a JavaScript function being displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Refreshing the website later returned a different error, which stated: \u201cAn error occurred while processing your request.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even after launching the desktop app in offline mode, games that synchronise with Steam are giving problems. Attempting to access Steam\u2019s support website also returned error messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outage has led to speculation that Steam owner and game publisher Valve may be under a distributed denial of service attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outage tracking website Downdetector shows that Steam users started reporting problems from just after 18:00 on Tuesday, 7 October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SteamDB\u2019s unofficial Steam network status monitor, <a href=\"http:\/\/steamstat.us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">steamstat.us<\/a>, indicated that the Steam Store, Community, and Web API were all offline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Valve\u2019s official servers for popular first-person shooter game Counter-Strike were also offline for a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of publication, most of Counter-Strike\u2019s servers had recovered.
