{"id":61706,"date":"2012-10-09T07:58:33","date_gmt":"2012-10-09T05:58:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=61706"},"modified":"2012-10-09T08:08:29","modified_gmt":"2012-10-09T06:08:29","slug":"sim-expert-called-into-dewani-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/61706-sim-expert-called-into-dewani-trial.html","title":{"rendered":"SIM expert called into Dewani trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An MTN cellphone expert is scheduled to testify in the trial of slain honeymooner Anni Dewani in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the court heard that Xolile Mngeni&#8217;s simcard was put in a phone belonging to one of Dewani&#8217;s convicted killers.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom forensic expert Petro Heyneke said phone records showed that Mngeni&#8217;s simcard was first put in Zola Tonga&#8217;s phone on the morning of November 14, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Dewani was shot dead on November 13.<\/p>\n<p>Tonga was jailed for 18 years under a plea bargain, in which he claimed Dewani&#8217;s husband Shrien arranged for his wife&#8217;s murder in a fake hijacking.<\/p>\n<p>The court also heard that the last activity on Tongo&#8217;s phone was an incoming call at 10.53pm on the night Dewani was killed.<\/p>\n<p>The day after Dewani was killed, at 5.13pm, a new simcard was issued where the user did a sim swap.
