{"id":617357,"date":"2025-11-07T08:05:50","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T06:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=617357"},"modified":"2025-11-07T08:44:02","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T06:44:02","slug":"gta-6-delayed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gaming\/617357-gta-6-delayed.html","title":{"rendered":"GTA 6 delayed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Take-Two Interactive Software delayed the release of\u00a0<em>Grand Theft Auto VI\u00a0<\/em>again, pushing back the much-anticipated video game by six months to November\u00a02026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement Thursday that accompanied&nbsp;quarterly results, Take-Two said it\u2019s giving the Rockstar Games \u201cteam some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The delay to 19 November of next year means costs to complete the game continue to mount.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the second public delay for\u00a0<em>Grand Theft Auto VI<\/em>, which was originally slated for release in fall 2025 before it was\u00a0pushed to May\u00a0of next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Grand Theft Auto VI<\/em>, a crime story set in a fictional version of Miami, is expected to be one of the most lucrative video games of all time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The previous game,\u00a0<em>Grand Theft Auto V<\/em>, has sold more than 220 million copies, making it the second-best-selling game ever, just below\u00a0<em>Minecraft<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shares of Take-Two fell about 7% in extended trading after the delay was announced, overshadowing quarterly results that topped Wall Street estimates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always painful when we move a date,\u201d\u00a0chief executive officer Strauss Zelnick said on a call with investors. \u201cWe\u2019ve never regretted it in retrospect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zelnick added that rival game companies have released unfinished products in the past rather than delaying. \u201cThey did so at their peril,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the second quarter ended 30 September, Take-Two reported bookings of $1.96\u00a0billion, beating estimates of $1.72 billion.
