8ta<\/a> has sent out invitations to an event where it promises to introduce \u201ca South African first in Wi-Fi usage\u201d on 18 October 2012.<\/p>\n

Although the image used in the promotion of the event may be showcasing some questionable driving, it does hint at in-vehicle Wi-Fi usage.<\/p>\n

Combined with the hint provided by the URL which includes the words \u201cWi-Fi\u201d and \u201ccabs\u201d, it would appear as though Telkom<\/a>\u2019s consumer mobile arm will be introducing conveyance-centric Wi-Fi services next week.<\/p>\n

This is ahead of the launch of 8ta\u2019s Long Term Evolution<\/a> public trial programme on 1 November 2012, for which the network is also keeping details under wraps until tomorrow (10 October 2012).<\/p>\n
