{"id":619186,"date":"2025-11-20T08:49:05","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T06:49:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=619186"},"modified":"2025-11-20T08:52:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T06:52:15","slug":"mr-price-cellular-reports-excellent-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/619186-mr-price-cellular-reports-excellent-performance.html","title":{"rendered":"Mr Price Cellular reports excellent performance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mr Price has released its interim results for the half-year ended 27 September 2025, revealing strong telecoms growth and an expanded footprint of standalone Mr Price Cellular stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The retailer also revealed that its telecoms segment saw notable market share gains and contributed 3.8% to Mr Price&#8217;s total retail sales for the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Price&#8217;s telecoms segment delivered double-digit retail sales growth during the period, growing 12.4% year-on-year from R603 million as of 28 September 2024 to R678 million as of 27 September 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Mr Price Cellular&#8217;s standalone store roll-out momentum continued, with a further 12 stores opened during the period, closing its footprint at 73, in addition to the existing 481 combo stores,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The segment further expanded its margins during the period, supported by both the Cellular (handsets and accessories) and Mobile offerings.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Price&#8217;s telecoms segment recorded profit before finance costs and finance income of R84 million for the period, up 16.8% from R72 million in the same period in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The segment continues the strong growth it achieved in the 2024\/25 financial year, during which retail sales through Mr Price Cellular and Powercell grew 13.2% to R1.3 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its report for the financial year, Mr Price said the segment primarily sells handsets and accessories through its combo and standalone stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also launched a smartphone brand, Salt, in the 2024\/25 financial year. However, its performance isn&#8217;t mentioned in its latest interim results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of early June 2025, the retailer had listed four Salt models on its website; however, only three models are currently available: the S60 Pro, A77 Plus, and A45.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The S60 Pro is the highest-specced model, featuring a triple 64MP rear camera configuration, 13MP front camera, 256GB of storage, 10GB of RAM, and a 6.6-inch display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It appears to have received a price cut. Mr Price listed the device at R2,999 in June 2025, and it is currently available for R2,499.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The A77 Plus is Salt&#8217;s mid-range smartphone, featuring 128GB of storage, 8GB of RAM, a 6.6-inch FHD+ display, dual 50MP rear cameras, an 8MP front camera, and a 5,000mAh battery for R1,899.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The A45 is Salt&#8217;s entry-level device, featuring a 6.6-inch FHD+ display, 64GB of storage, and 4GB of RAM. It has a dual 13MP rear camera configuration and an 8MP selfie camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The A45 also appears to have received a price cut, with the price dropping from R1,399 to R1,199 between June and November 2025.
