When they approach a boom gate with Admyt’s cameras, it will automatically open once their number is recognised.

This makes entry and exit faster and eliminates the need to store and pay for a physical paper ticket, which, in busy periods, can involve long queues at pay stations.

Customers can choose to pay for parking using credits loaded onto a prepaid wallet in the app or a bank card, with transactions processed automatically in the background.

In exchange for the added convenience, Admyt charges R1 per parking session, which is applied in addition to the regular fee when a parking ticket is issued. Free parking sessions incur no Admyt charges.

Admyt CEO Kfir Rusin told MyBroadband that the app processed 800,000 parking sessions in October 2025, representing an 80% year-over-year increase, with an average monthly growth of 7%.

Users have also increased by 70% year-over-year to exceed 300,000 in October 2025, while more than 500,000 cars have been registered on the app.

Rusin said roughly 65% of parking sessions were paid and 35% were free. Based on October’s figures, the company could be generating over R500,000 per month solely from its R1 convenience fee.

Driving this growth is Admyt’s ticketless parking system, expanding from just a handful of shopping centres to more than 80 locations, including most of the country’s largest malls.

These include the Mall of Africa, Fourways Mall, Eastgate Shopping Centre, Canal Walk, Clearwater Mall, Woodlands Mall, Brooklyn Mall, Rosebank Mall, and Sandton City.

Secret to Admyt’s success

Admyt CEO Kfir Rusin (right) with former Admyt co-CEO Devon Beynon.

Admyt is not the only company that has used ANPR to eliminate the hassle of storing and paying for parking with physical tickets.

Another platform that launched at roughly the same time — Kaching — recently shut down. It said the suspension of its services was due to its technology having “run its course.”

Rusin attributes Admyt’s success to prioritising the end user’s experience. “Ultimately, it is the user who drives value: they create foot traffic for malls, repeat visits and retail spend,” he said.

“By focusing on their experience first, we have built strong adoption and loyalty, which then unlocks value for landlords and partners.”

The two key areas that Admyt focused on were making its app simple, fast and reliable and expanding its network as quickly as possible so that people who enjoy the service can use it in more places.

Admyt also had some teething issues. In its early years, many users on the platform reported that boom gates where its cameras were deployed were not opening.

Rusin said that the system has improved significantly over time. “We are now achieving plate read success rates above 99.00% percent at over 90% of our portfolio,” Rusin said.

“This is well above global benchmarks and continues to improve as we refine our systems and work closely with landlords and hardware partners.”

Plate read problems may occur for various reasons, including network issues, accounts being in arrears, or the number plate itself not being readable.

To mitigate network and plate-recognition issues, Admyt offers a manual entry system at select locations, allowing users to initiate a parking session directly on the app.

Over 120 new locations and extra features planned

Admyt plans to expand to over 200 locations in South Africa and move into new sectors to give customers more rewards, benefits, and services.

Although it also offers its system at two locations in Poland, its immediate focus was firmly on South Africa.

“We are building an ecosystem that connects users seamlessly to the places they go, the businesses they visit, and the services they rely on,” Rusin said.

“That requires deep local integration and strong partnerships. The next 18 to 24 months will be fully focused on this local expansion.”

Planned new app features include support for digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Wallet, as well as vouchers for discounts and special offers at businesses within Admyt-supported locations.

Using technology, Admyt is reducing some of the major pains consumers have with paid parking areas.

[19
55690,92200,35354,102410,101012
post-620161","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","tag-admyt","tag-automatic-number-plate-recognition-anpr","tag-kaching","tag-kfir-rusin","tag-ticketless-parking
