{"id":621397,"date":"2025-12-03T11:19:37","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T09:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=621397"},"modified":"2025-12-03T11:25:50","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T09:25:50","slug":"takealot-testing-new-service-in-three-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/621397-takealot-testing-new-service-in-three-cities.html","title":{"rendered":"Takealot testing new service in three cities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Takealot has announced the launch of a new instant-delivery pilot in Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town called \u201cGet it Now\u201d, powered by TakealotNOW and fulfilled via Mr D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Africa\u2019s largest online retailer said consumers can now receive their orders in minutes with the new service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This follows the company&#8217;s successful pilot of TakealotNOW, which first launched over two years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Takealot first started <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/investing\/504504-takealot-tests-1-hour-delivery-service.html\">testing the service<\/a> in August 2023, allowing Mr D users in areas like Durbanville, Bellville, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Kuilsriver and Parow to take it for a spin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It expanded TakealotNOW <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/it-services\/536481-takealot-expands-1-hour-delivery-service.html\">to Cape Town\u2019s central suburbs<\/a> in May 2024 and <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/553184-takealot-1-hour-deliveries-launch-in-pretoria.html\">launched it in Pretoria<\/a> on 1 August 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers can shop for a wide range of products, including beauty essentials, toys, smartphones, laptops, and alternative energy products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The TakealotNow service was previously only available through a dedicated tab in the Mr D app, and Mr D CEO Alex Worz said at the time that the expansion marked an exciting milestone for the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s evident that our customers appreciate the speed of delivery and convenience of TakealotNow,\u201d said Takealot Group CEO Frederik Zietsman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn an industry primarily focused on groceries, we\u2019ve pioneered a shift by offering on-demand delivery on a diverse range of products.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zietsman said South African consumers are getting increasingly used to receiving deliveries in under an hour, adding that these types of deliveries don\u2019t cost Takealot any more than its standard courier pricing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the move aligns with Takealot\u2019s strategy to grow its e-commerce offering through customer-centric services, adding that there is still massive potential for digital commerce in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zietsman said local customers aren\u2019t served particularly well, presenting a great opportunity for Takealot.
