Apple<\/a> unveiled its fourth generation iPad on 23 October 2012, featuring a custom designed A6X chipset boasting up to twice the CPU and graphics compute performance of the A5X chipset, and a new Qualcomm<\/a> LTE chip.<\/p>\n

The new Apple iPad 4 will support LTE<\/a> network across the world, which should include South Africa\u2019s operators.<\/p>\n

The iPad 4 features the same 9.7-inch Retina display users are familiar with, an HD Facetime front-facing camera, Apple\u2019s new Lightning connector, and a claimed 10-hour battery life.<\/p>\n

This latest iPad was unveiled only six months after the company launched the iPad 3 (aka the new iPad) – taking many people by surprise.<\/p>\n

The device will be available at the same price points as its predecessor, with the Wi-Fi only models starting at $499 for 16GB and then going up to $599 for 32GB and $699 for 64GB.<\/p>\n

Models with cellular data capabilities cost $629 for 16GB, $729 for 32GB, and $829 for 64GB.<\/p>\n

Apple also took the wraps off an 8-inch tablet on Tuesday in its biggest product move since the debut of the iPad two years ago, launching a smaller version of the gadget into a market staked out by Amazon.com Inc<\/a> and Google Inc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 7.9 inch “iPad mini” marks Apple’s first foray into the smaller-tablet segment. Apple also announced a fourth-generation full-sized iPad with improvements in graphics and processing speeds, just two days before Microsoft<\/a> is due to show off its own “Surface” tablet.<\/p>\n
