<\/strong>Qualcomm<\/a> and Project RAY<\/a> have teamed-up to develop a multi-use smartphone for the visually impaired.<\/p>\n

Dubbed the Project RAY phone, the Android<\/a>-based device uses a special interface that doesn\u2019t require visual operation. The interface allows users to touch any location on the screen, which will then become the starting point for selecting a feature.<\/p>\n

Services include texting, phone calls, navigation, social network services, object recognition, remote assistance, audio book reading, and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe the Project RAY device will enhance the ability of blind and visually impaired people to access resources and information independently,\u201d said Don Rosenberg<\/a>, executive VP and general counsel for Qualcomm.<\/p>\n
