It said she had voluntarily agreed to settle the debt.

“At no point did Standard Bank or its representatives perform any acts of violence or intimidation towards Dr Hammond and any of her family members,” the bank said.

About 21 months after the settlement was reached, Hammond, her daughter and a “Trust” issued a summons against Standard Bank. This summons was served as far back as 2020.

“After Standard Bank’s defence was filed, for more than 5 years, Dr Hammond, her daughter, and the Trust have not taken any steps to progress their alleged claims,” it said.

The bank is essentially accusing Hammond of slanderous claims, as it said that the summons issued in 2020 did not contain the bulk of the allegations made in the new series of videos.

“The reason for this is obvious. If there was any truth to the allegations that she is now levelling, all of these allegations would have been made at the time,” it said.

“Standard Bank denies that it conceded in court that a fraud had been perpetrated. This too was not alleged by Dr Hammond.”

The bank said it would vigorously defend its reputation and its leadership against “malicious falsehoods.”

Standard Bank has denied serious allegations about fraud and intimidation made in a series of viral social media videos.

[10106
19372,104051,165,2808,104052,1851
post-636234","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-banking","tag-bank-fraud","tag-dr-anele-mngadi-hammond","tag-fraud","tag-social-media","tag-social-media-claims","tag-standard-bank
