The Cape Winelands Airport announced the appointment of Boogertman + Partners Architects as its architectural partner for the landmark development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boogertman + Partners Architects will play a central role in shaping the architectural identity and passenger experience of the future airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will also ensure that the design reflects the distinct character of the Cape Winelands and the requirements of a modern aviation hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis milestone represents continued momentum as the project advances through its next phase of development,\u201d it said in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boogertman + Partners, one of Africa\u2019s largest architectural practices, will collaborate with Amd.Sigma, a strategic airport development company based in Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTogether, they combine international expertise with deep local knowledge, insight, and proven capability,\u201d Cape Winelands Airport said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cape Winelands Airport development will establish an airport city precinct 13 km northeast of Durbanville on Lichtenburg Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be built on the site of the existing Fisantekraal Airfield, serving as a new private airport facility to serve the City of Cape Town and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport is designed to support economic growth, attract new investment, and enhance regional connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cape Winelands Airport added that the development will bring together aviation, commerce, and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport’s long-term plans include construction of a new boutique terminal, runway infrastructure, and upgrades to airside systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cape Winelands Airport project will also enhance cargo and logistics operations and produce a modernised general aviation precinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development is expected to require an initial investment of approximately R8 billion to R10 billion in Cape Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport is expected to sustain approximately 35,000 direct and indirect jobs and over 100,000 during its initial 20 years of operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicholas Ferguson, Managing Director of RSA Aero, owner and operator of Cape Winelands Airport, is upbeat about the latest development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe appointment of Boogertman + Partners marks another milestone for Cape Winelands Airport,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It followed the key strategic partnerships with Growthpoint Properties and WBHO Construction at the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur vision is for Cape Winelands Airport to be a destination in its own right, a gateway that reflects the character, beauty, and heritage of the region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that \u2018capturing that strong sense of place\u2019 is central to how the airport\u2019s design will be approached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andr\u00e9 Wright, Director at Boogertman + Partners, said they are delighted to have the opportunity to design the Cape Winelands Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the new gateway to the Cape Winelands region will set new standards for design innovation in the country and on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The architectural vision for the airport is to blend the complex with the natural topography and agricultural tapestry of the winelands and Swartland regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport terminal is envisioned as a striking, undulating, sculptural glass-and-steel form that appears to rise organically from the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development’s layout is designed to support phased expansion. Its urban design constitutes a flexible framework that can evolve with local conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adam Symalla, Managing Director of Amd.Sigma, said that Cape Winelands Airport represents a truly unique opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt will be a next-generation regional gateway that combines world-class infrastructure with the distinct identity and landscape of the Western Cape,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the Cape Winelands Airport project sets a new benchmark for regional airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
