{"id":641039,"date":"2026-05-07T08:59:36","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T06:59:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=641039"},"modified":"2026-05-07T09:17:30","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T07:17:30","slug":"taiwanese-hardware-company-gigabyte-expanding-into-enterprise-computing-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/641039-taiwanese-hardware-company-gigabyte-expanding-into-enterprise-computing-in-south-africa.html","title":{"rendered":"Taiwanese hardware company Gigabyte expanding into enterprise computing in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Taiwanese hardware company Gigabyte is coming off an outstanding 2025, when it saw &#8220;exceptional growth&#8221; in South Africa&#8217;s PC components sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company is now looking to diversify its portfolio and focus on reaching new customers with specialised computing products, including AI computers and enterprise hardware solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gigabyte South Africa told MyBroadband that in 2025, its Radeon GPUs were the second-most popular in the local market, an achievement accomplished with help from specialised vendors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We reached this position without an active sales presence at Evetech, which is widely considered the country&#8217;s largest PC tech retailer,&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This speaks volumes about the strength of our brand and the demand across our broader channel partners.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Globally, the company is shifting from selling only hardware to becoming a full-stack AI infrastructure provider to capitalise on global demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has launched a range of AI gaming laptops with built-in AI agents that the company said served as context-aware companions. The company&#8217;s WQHD monitors are listed among the online storefront&#8217;s &#8220;best sellers.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gaming monitors range from R6,000 to R15,000, with the company&#8217;s most expensive models out of stock as of the time of writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;While it&#8217;s early days, the sell-through rate has been incredible. Currently, only one model remains in stock as the others sold out almost immediately upon arrival,&#8221; Gigabyte said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its most affordable monitor, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wootware.co.za\/gigabyte-g27q2-27-wqhd-2560x1440-210hz-superspeed-ips-anti-glare-amd-freesync-premium-black-gaming-desktop-monitor.html\">27&#8243; WQHD display<\/a> features a refresh rate of 210Hz, IPS anti-glare, and AMD FreeSync.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On top of the new monitor range in South Africa, Gigabyte said that it will relaunch its laptop line in the South African market this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new devices have faced delays due to &#8220;global supply chain factors.&#8221; Gigabyte said the timing has been challenging when it comes to launching new products in the current environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our goal is to monitor the segment closely through the remainder of the year and target aggressive growth in 2027,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said the ongoing memory crisis remains a factor, with impacts felt particularly in its laptop segment, &#8220;where pricing and supply are most sensitive.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;By working closely with key partners like Wootware, Progenix, and Kloppers, we are able to manage inventory more effectively and shield the end-user from the worst of the volatility where possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During its time operating in South Africa, Gigabyte said it had successfully navigated major global disruptions, including the 2008 recession and Covid-19.
