Taiwanese hardware company Gigabyte is coming off an outstanding 2025, when it saw “exceptional growth” in South Africa’s PC components sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company is now looking to diversify its portfolio and focus on reaching new customers with specialised computing products, including AI computers and enterprise hardware solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gigabyte South Africa told MyBroadband that in 2025, its Radeon GPUs were the second-most popular in the local market, an achievement accomplished with help from specialised vendors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We reached this position without an active sales presence at Evetech, which is widely considered the country’s largest PC tech retailer,” the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This speaks volumes about the strength of our brand and the demand across our broader channel partners.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Globally, the company is shifting from selling only hardware to becoming a full-stack AI infrastructure provider to capitalise on global demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has launched a range of AI gaming laptops with built-in AI agents that the company said served as context-aware companions. It is also using AI software to make its components more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“X3D Turbo Mode 2.0, GIGABYTE’s exclusive hardware-software fusion technology, applies AI to dynamically balance performance, power, and thermals,” the company shared in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In South Africa, the company sells laptops with built-in NPUs, processing units specifically designed to run AI tasks on-device without an Internet connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have seen massive success with the AI TOP Atom Mini PC,” Gigabyte said.\u00a0Retailers like Wootware are listing this machine<\/a> at over R90,000 at the time of writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It has found a surprisingly large audience in South Africa among enthusiasts looking for the definitive version of the Nvidia GB10 SoC.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other components in the consumer range have been integrated with AI, and it has expanded into AI enterprise solutions locally, including rack-scale systems, AI servers, and server motherboards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also provides direct cooling solutions and liquid cooling to companies, and sells GPU workstations<\/a> in South Africa that come with Nvidia’s Blackwell superchips<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We intend to lean into this momentum by expanding our footprint in the AI and enthusiast categories over the coming years.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the hardware front, the company recently launched its display range through distributors like Wootware. The company’s WQHD monitors are listed among the online storefront’s “best sellers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gaming monitors range from R6,000 to R15,000, with the company’s most expensive models out of stock as of the time of writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“While it’s early days, the sell-through rate has been incredible. Currently, only one model remains in stock as the others sold out almost immediately upon arrival,” Gigabyte said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its most affordable monitor, the 27″ WQHD display<\/a> features a refresh rate of 210Hz, IPS anti-glare, and AMD FreeSync.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of the new monitor range in South Africa, Gigabyte said that it will relaunch its laptop line in the South African market this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new devices have faced delays due to “global supply chain factors.” Gigabyte said the timing has been challenging when it comes to launching new products in the current environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our goal is to monitor the segment closely through the remainder of the year and target aggressive growth in 2027,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company said the ongoing memory crisis remains a factor, with impacts felt particularly in its laptop segment, “where pricing and supply are most sensitive.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By working closely with key partners like Wootware, Progenix, and Kloppers, we are able to manage inventory more effectively and shield the end-user from the worst of the volatility where possible.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During its time operating in South Africa, Gigabyte said it had successfully navigated major global disruptions, including the 2008 recession and Covid-19. It believes the market will eventually stabilise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
