Companies in South Africa face skills shortages and infrastructure constraints in AI.

HPE launches ProLiant Gen 12 AI-ready servers in South Africa

HPE’s ProLiant Gen 12 servers introduced in February 2025.

Duncan said that instead of bolting AI into existing legacy systems, local companies should move towards AI-native systems, infrastructure built to address the growing demand for AI.

“AI-native networks simplify operations, increase productivity, and deliver more reliable performance at scale by continuously analysing network behaviour and predicting issues before they impact users.”

Duncan gives an example of hospitality partners of HPE that are employing AI-enabled networks, and how these networks are able to recognise returning guests as soon as they connect.

“At large-scale events such as the Nedbank Golf Challenge, AI-native networking has enabled thousands of attendees to connect seamlessly while receiving real-time, location-aware information on their devices,” she said.

This automation of operations allows companies to reduce reliance on manual processes, like creating individual tickets for each customer or user.

HPE introduced its ProLiant Gen 12 servers in South Africa to address challenges in the local infrastructure environment. These servers deliver stronger processing power and improved workload density.

Riaan Swart, Tarsus Distribution’s HPE GM Enterprise — traditional technologies, said that the latest generation HPE compute platforms allow organisations to modernise while lowering operational costs.

“Moving to the latest generation compute platforms allows businesses to consolidate workloads while improving efficiency and control.”

The new servers are AI-native, with AI-driven analytics and processing, potentially lowering power and cooling requirements for companies thanks to their efficiency and performance.

“Consolidating workloads onto newer generation servers can significantly reduce the number of systems required in a data centre,” said Swart.

As local companies seek to adopt AI and scale their operations, integrating modern solutions begins by evaluating existing server environments and identifying the best locations for AI-ready infrastructure.

He said that replacing legacy infrastructure should enable organisations to scale, secure, and manage their environments more effectively.

HPE says that South African organisations adopting AI should replace legacy systems entirely with AI-native infrastructure.

[57364
37815,41668,104625,737,104626,104551,65950
post-641622","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-enterprise","tag-hewlett-packard-enterprise","tag-hpe","tag-mandy-duncan","tag-mustek","tag-proliant-gen-12-servers","tag-riaan-swart","tag-tarsus-distribution
