The issues arise on payday for millions of South Africans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mobile banking app launches with limited functionality, but only after prompting users to enter an OTP sent to their email addresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several users also reported that entering the OTP did not work. They were then prompted to send a new OTP, which did not arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was a timer to resend OTPs which did not arrive. Customers reported that after 15 minutes all the OTPs arrived at the same time, none of which allowed them to log in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MyBroadband confirmed that the app was experiencing connectivity issues and displayed a message asking users whether they would like to continue using it with &#8220;limited functionality.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our services are currently limited, and only some app features are available,&#8221; a notification on the Standard Bank app read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also confirmed that the bank&#8217;s web-based online banking platform was offline, with the site stating that it could not find user accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;But we are fixing the issue. Please try again, or come back later,&#8221; the error message on the Internet banking platform read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Twitter\/X, Standard Bank&#8217;s official account was replying to users reporting connectivity issues with the app, telling them to continue trying to log in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Please click on &#8216;resend&#8217; and use the latest OTP received. If it does not work, kindly send us a private message,&#8221; the bank <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StandardBankZA\/status\/2047416821419053176\">stated on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some users reported on social media that the app had been experiencing intermittent outages since 5:00 on Friday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to outage tracking service <a href=\"https:\/\/downdetector.co.za\/status\/standard-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Downdetector<\/a>, users began reporting issues connecting to the Standard Bank app as early as 5:13 on Friday. Around 130 reports were filed by 7:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Standard Bank confirms that some customers experienced difficulties logging in to the Standard Bank Mobile App and Internet Banking earlier this morning,&#8221; a spokesperson told MyBroadband.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our teams identified the issue promptly and are actively working to restore full access as quickly as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standard Bank encouraged customers who were unable to log in to try again shortly, as services were being progressively stabilised. ATMs, card payments, and branches remained available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We understand how important reliable access to digital banking is for our customers, especially at the start of the day,&#8221; it stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our teams are working with urgency to resolve this matter and restore services fully, and we thank customers for their patience while we do so.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 8:40 on Friday morning, Standard Bank told MyBroadband that the service issues with its mobile banking app and internet banking have been resolved, with access returning to its customers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our teams identified and resolved the issue as quickly as possible to restore full-service functionality,&#8221; a spokesperson said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disruption this may have caused and thank customers for their patience and understanding.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator
