SEACOM has announced that it has activated the second of its two terrestrial routes across Egypt on 8 November 2012.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis milestone positions SEACOM as the only East Africa cable system having the capability of providing resilience across Egypt to its customers for traffic routed to Europe and the US,\u201d the company said in a press statement.<\/p>\n
The activation of the new route follows the activation of the primary route through Egypt on 22 January 2012.<\/p>\n
\u201cCustomers are now protected against any disruptions to the primary route across Egypt with an alternate route. We are proud to be the first cable system in the region to offer our customers this additional protection as part of SEACOM\u2019s continuous drive to enhance services to our customers,\u201d said Claes Segelberg, SEACOM’s chief technology officer.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis important link in the system will provide an excellent resilient low-latency foundation for the IP product and content services we offer our customers,\u201d said SEACOM\u2019s CEO, Mark Simpson.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition to the Egypt route, we also offer our IP customers breakout options to Mumbai, India – another first among Africa\u2019s network providers.\u201d<\/p>\n
