Huawei unveiled its Watch Fit 5 series at an event in Bangkok on Thursday, 7 May 2026, including the top-of-the-line Watch Fit 5 Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the standard Watch Fit 5 was designed primarily for fitness tracking, the Pro bridges the gap between a lightweight fitness tracker and a premium smartwatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the company, the smartwatches were aimed at a younger generation of users. The Fit 5 series retains the square design of the Fit 4 range, with a slight refresh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The standard Watch Fit 5 uses a lightweight aluminium alloy to ensure the wearable is practical for everyday fitness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Pro model, Huawei used a titanium alloy for the watch’s bezels. Its screen features sapphire glass protection, while the standard model’s screen is protected by strengthened glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The manufacturer managed to keep the Watch 5 Pro remarkably slim. with a thickness of 9.5mm. It is also lightweight, tipping the scale at just 30.4g.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to touch navigation on the screen, the right-hand side of the Huawei Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro boast a clickable dial and a button at the bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Huawei Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro both feature bright AMOLED displays, with the standard wearable’s screen measuring 1.82 inches, and the Pro coming in at 1.92 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding brightness, the standard Watch Fit 5 achieves peak brightness of 2,500 nits. That increases to 3,000 nits on the Watch Fit 5 Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Huawei has positioned both the Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro as serious fitness tools that can survive harsh conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Designed to support everyday wellness, the series offers guided workout features alongside comprehensive fitness tracking,” Huawei said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The series also supports a wide range of competitive sports, including cycling, golf, trail running, and tennis, with advanced tracking, analysis, and guidance features.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fitness features include a 40 metre diving rating, multi-band GPS, golf and cycling assistants, and a new array of micro workouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new micro workouts have a digital fitness assistant in the form of a panda that can guide users through various micro exercises and stretches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These micro exercises are short, guided movements ranging from 30 seconds to a few minutes. The feature is designed for those with busy lifestyles who struggle to find time and space to exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Huawei plans to launch the Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro in South Africa in May 2026, with a cash price starting from R3,499 through cellular partners and approved retailers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The smartwatches will also be available on contract at R119 per month over 36 months through a local mobile network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The colour options for the Watch Fit 5 smartwatches to be sold in South Africa are Starry Black, Moonlight White, Sage Green, Gentle Purple, and Silver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Watch Fit 5 Pro will be offered in Glacier White, Yardang Black, and its bold Danxia Orange colour option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
