Nokia<\/a> announced that its flagship Windows Phone<\/a> 8 device, the Nokia Lumia 920, launched at retail in South Africa today (16 November 2012).<\/p>\n

The company will be hosting a launch event for the device in Sandton later today.<\/p>\n

According to the spec sheet of the Lumia 920, it has a 4.5-inch WXGA (768\u00d71280) display, 32GB storage, and a 8.7 megapixel \u201cPureView\u201d camera.<\/p>\n

Nokia said that this camera also uses advanced floating lens technology, which lets Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) take in five times more light than competing smartphones. It also compensates for hand movement while the photo is being taken, Nokia said.<\/p>\n

With pentaband LTE<\/a> support, the Nokia Lumia 920 also supports the frequencies most of SA\u2019s network operators are using for their Long Term Evolution networks.<\/p>\n

Nokia\u2019s Lumia 920 is also the fattest and heaviest of the three high-end Windows Phone devices set to launch in SA, weighing in at 185g and measuring 130.2 x 70.8 x 10.7mm.<\/p>\n

Competing with the Lumia 920 is HTC<\/a>\u2019s Windows Phone 8X, which has already become available locally, and the Samsung<\/a> Ativ S which is set to launch later this month.<\/p>\n
